Fail.
The Revival of Future Fusion OTK
How is this possible? The deck was reengineered so that instead of loading Tempest Magician with Spell Counters to burn your opponent for game (see here for the complete list of steps to achieve that goal), the new variants of the Deck simply swarm the field with Synchro Monsters and Fusion Monsters (thanks to Miracle Fusion), then beat the opponent's face in for game.
Having seen this, I decided to make my own post-9/11 Deck which I call "ChaosHeld" as an experiment, to see how consistent the deck would truly be. Here's my first build of it.
My very first observation of the original Deck was that it relied on luck to get Future Fusion in the opening hand, making it wildly inconsistent. My deck solves that problem 2 ways: 1) The deck is an OTK, not an FTK, so it doesn't have to, and 2) using draw cards and Synchro Fusionist allows me to search it to my hand. Not only that, Fusionist allows me to make Hyper Librarian right off the bat, a result not achieved in the original until step 24 (though admittedly my build and others run now doesn't use Dewloren as an intermediate step). However, it's not necessary to do so, since the Deck handles fine on its own.
So how does this deck handle for consistency? Surprisingly well, because getting Future Fusion is easier than before and the steps involved are simpler. The ideal combo for this deck is:
1. Normal Summon Junk Synchron, Special Summon Synchro Fusionist from your Graveyard and make T.G. Hyper Libraria. Through Fusionist, add Future Fusion to your hand.
2. Activate Future Fusion (Elemental Hero Escuridão): Send random HERO(1), Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite.
3. Activate the effect of Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite, bounce Future Fusion, take 400 damage.
4. Activate Future Fusion (Elemental Hero Escuridão): Send random HERO(2), Plaguespreader Zombie.
5. Activate Plaguespreader Zombie (put a card on top of the deck), special summon it. Synchro for Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier and draw 1 card.
6. Activate Brionac's effect, discard a card, bounce Future Fusion.
7. Activate Future Fusion (Elemental Hero Nova Master): Send random HERO(3), Volcanic Shell. Activate the effect of Volcanic Shell, get another one.
8. Activate Brionac's effect, discard Volcanic Shell, bounce Future Fusion. Activate the effect of Volcanic Shell, get another one.
9. Activate Future Fusion (Elemental Hero Gaia): Send random HERO(4), Dandylion. Get 2 Fluff Tokens.
10. Activate Brionac's effect, discard Volcanic Shell, bounce Future Fusion
11. Activate Future Fusion (Elemental Hero Great Tornado): Send random HERO(5), Spore. Banish Dandylion for Spore at LV4, Synchro for a Level 5 monster (most likely Ally of Justice Catastor). Draw 1 card.
12. Activate Brionac's effect, discard a card, bounce Future Fusion
13. Activate Future Fusion (Elemental Hero Gaia): Send random HERO(6), Glow-Up Bulb. Mill a card for Glow-Up, Synchro Formula Synchron. Draw 2 cards.
After that point, depending on the cards in your hand and the opponent’s field, you can perform a combination of the below:
- Synchro Shooting Quasar Dragon with Librarian, Formula Synchron and the Level 5 Synchro
-Synchro Summon Stardust Dragon with Brionac and Formula Synchron, draw 1 card. If you have Monster Reborn, you can then use it to get Formula Synchron back, Synchro Shooting Star Dragon and draw 1 card.
-Activate Monster Reborn to revive a Tuner, Synchro and draw 1 card
-Remove a LIGHT HERO and a DARK for either Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning or Chaos Sorcerer
-Activate Miracle Fusion, remove 2 HEROs for the Fusion of your choice, usually The Shining
Autoplay? Well, I want to say yes because the deck performs in such a mechanical way (and since I hate autoplay, I'd be the first to knock this deck), but it's not so simple. There are multitudes of different sequences and combination of moves to me performed, and so far none of my wins involved the same combination of steps. So far, this is my most impressive combo:
Do not adjust your screens. That is BLS-Envoy, Quasar, Brio and Shining all on my field, all made in one turn (Shining at 3500; the 3 removed HEROs are Wildheart, Neos Alius and Voltic). Granted, my opponent didn't make it very hard for me by not setting and back row, but that goes to show the ambush power of this deck. If they are not prepared to stop you, they can basically only either sit there are watch you win or leave. I hate myself for building something so evil, but it was an entirely experimental venture and the matches were all unrated.
Until next time, this is M saying play hard, play fair and play original.
